Snowbird ski resort is a great destination where there is powder everywhere for the taking. Utah’s claim of having the “Greatest Snow on Earth” is really true at Snowbird. Snowbird Utah is in the Little Cottonwood Canyon of the Wasatch mountain range in the Rocky Mountains. It is 47 kilometres (29 miles – 45 minute drive) from Salt Lake City International Airport with plenty of flights from major U.S. cities (It takes about 45 minutes to an hour)

Combined with the steeps, some of which are fabulously terrifying, Snowbird is very deserved of the various Best USA Ski Resort awards for the steeps, powder and off-piste skiing. Snowbird Utah is world renowned for the abundance of light dry Wasatch powder that falls, with an average annual snowfall of 12.8 metres, of if you prefer to talk in feet and inches, an impressive 500 inches (42 ft) of light dry powder. Famous for deep powder and steep chutes and bowls, Snowbird is a dream ski destination. There’s also plenty of terrain for intermediates, beginners. Terrain Statistics for Snowbird ski resort include 987 metres of vertical, 1,012 hectares (2,500 acres) of skiing terrain, 85 runs serviced by 11 lifts, one of which is a tram.

Skiers can use a joint lift pass to also access Alta ski resort. The combined resorts provide 26 lifts in total and 4,700 acres (1,902 hectares) – one of the largest skiing areas in the USA. The resorts are joined at Sugarloaf Pass and accessed via high-speed four-packs from both Alta and Snowbird. The only downside is that Alta is snowboard free, which may be a plus for skiers who are wary of snowboarders.

The pedestrian village of Snowbird is small and intimate. There is a limited nightlife and bar scene, only a few shops, and there is not much to do besides ski, but visitors to Snowbird don’t care because the main purpose for their visit is the fantastic skiing.  For such a small village, surprisingly there are 15+ Snowbird restaurants and numerous lounges (ie bars). Snowbird dining varies from burgers, to quality steaks and fine dining.  We will include one night transportation and dinner in Park City

Snowbird Cliff Spa and Lodge The Lodge is 25 miles from downtown Salt Lake City and boasting ski-in/ski-out access, this slope-side hotel at Snowbird is 175 feet from the Village Center and the aerial tram to 11,000-foot Hidden Peak. And with 3,332 acres of terrain, 94 trails, 21 chairlifts and access to your choice of cruisers, glades, steeps, terrain parks and halfpipes, you’ll have plenty to ski, but you’ll still have the option of using your liftticket in Aspen, Aspen Highlands and for beginners, in Buttermilk.
